Just another manic Monday...

Today was one of those days. One that threatens to beat you down, and leave nothing but a slimy pulp behind. A day that laughs in your face and goes, "HA HA! You thought you had CONTROL! You were WRONG!"

It seems, at work anyway, that summer is over and everyone and their Grandmothers suddenly realized that they aren't prepared for their fall events. (The details of what I do aren't fully important here, just know that I work for a large company and this sucks for me.)

On top of it, I did a huge software upgrade last week, and well, that added suckage to my day.

And that conference I boasted about last week? Well, see, that takes preparation. LOTS of preparation that takes time. Time I didn't seem to have today. Or Thursday. Or at all last week. And I leave Sunday.

We've also been doing some major work on our house over the past few months. We're hoping the Hubs gets a new job in the nearnearnearnear future, and while we realized before baby #2 was born (a year and a half ago) that we'd outgrown our house, we're just not sellin' while the economy sucks and we have so much equity built in this one. (His job will most likely require a move and I'm not movin' twice, thankyouverymuch.) This weekend was major clean-up time and hanging of new curtains and blinds. We also ordered the new windows for the three-season porch. This afternoon, I had wanted to get to Target for a new curtain rod for the bedroom, but after walking out into the swealtering afternoon heat I thought, forget it.

Instead, I did what I do best. What always makes me happy.

I played with the boys.

We cracked open the sand box and hauled every last sand pail, dump truck and rocking horse out of the garage. We filled the kiddie pool with a few inches of freezing cold water and I laughed out loud as they splashed each other and they gasped at the temperature.

Simple pleasures

We made a sand castle city, complete with giant "monsters" that smashed the castles to bits within seconds of their creation. We filled the pool with every ball we had, which was little boy heaven for Will. Nick and I giggled at him going "BALL! BALL! BALL! BALL!" as he swished around in the pool, trying to catch each one.

BALL! BALL! BALL!

We had a quick dinner of pb & honey sandwiches, fruit and chips before heading off to the library. My boys love our local library - it has an awesome kids section, with toys and puzzles and blocks, along with coloring sheets and tables at which to sit and scribble. Oh, and books.

So, in the end, it ended up being a pretty OK day. Except that I ran them a little too hard and they were overtired by the time I got them in bed, even though it was only 8:30 and they took no less than an hour and a half to stop chanting "Mama! Mama!" in sing-songy voices and finally drift off to sleep.

But tomorrow? Tomorrow's my bitch.

Sometimes you just have to say "screw it" and have a little fun. It looks like you guys had a good time.

I should probably take my daughter to our local library. She watches way too much television.

You just guilted me about not going to the library anymore. ;) My kids love it, and it's been waaay too long since we've been there.
I'd take a dip in a kiddie pool over a trip to Target ANY day... Well, not if I could go without the kidlets!

I'd take playing with the kiddos over shopping for a curtain rod any day.
Blessings...

We all have to have good days in order to handle the "bitch" days.

I loved that you said fuck it and played with the kids. But yeah, tomorrow will suck. I have to recommend self-medication before and after the bitch.
