Un-Grinching Christmas: Dear Santa...

Nick has been circling every toy in every sales flyer that comes to our house for the past month. Last night I figured it was finally time to write ol' Chris Kringle a letter.

circling

I sat at the coffee table, pen in hand. "OK, what do you want it to say?"

Nick thought a moment. Rubbing his chin with his skinny four-year-old fingers, he sighed. "Dear Santa?"

"Well, I got that part, hon. What else?"

"Um...bring me toys?" He impatiently hopped from one foot to the other, doing that familiar little boy dance. "Please?"

I chuckled. "Uh, OK hon. Every kid wants toys. Why should Santa bring you toys? Were you a good boy?"

"Yep! I brush my teeth every day."

"Um...okaaaay," I said, writing that down. "What else?"

"I'm a good big brother." I chuckled, thinking of how, just moments before, dear ol' brother was on the receiving end of a WWE worthy smack down.

"Anything else?"

"Um, put in there Will is a good brother, too." Now that I think of it, he's so sweet to think of his brother.

"OK." I finished writing and had him sign it.

We stopped to put on PJs (I told him its easier to be creative when you're comfortable) and then we resumed with him cutting out some of the previously circled items to paste onto the letter.

Note the mismatched jammie bottoms (he dressed himself
so I won't complain) and the
presence of tongue again.

Amidst weather reports warning us of the coming snow, we finished the letter, and its ready to send to the Big Man:

Once the snow stops, we'll be taking Nick's letter to Macy's to drop in their big red mailbox. For every letter they receive, Macy's will be donating $1 to the Make A Wish Foundation. Double win.

Have you written your letter yet?

P.S. You can make yourself into a Santa, read the original "Virginia letter" and look up the closest mailbox on that Macy's site.

Darling! That little boy of yours will never forget this year. Don't think of writing a letter as a "cheat". It is a fabulous thing to spend time with your children. Keep up the good work.

I posted the purse thing because I know everyone is swamped at this time of year, and a purse tackle is a really easy, doable thing! Blesssings!

What a great tackle! I love that he included his little brother! Be sure to make a copy of his letter to keep! I didn't know that about Macy's, but I'm on the prowl now. THANKS!!!

What a fun tackle! The Midge did her letter last weekend and hand-delivered it to Santa when we had breakfast with him.

How precious that he mentioned Will! Doesn't that just make your button's burst...or your jeans...or something explode with joy and happiness?

And I love the mis-matched jammies - that's the best! :)

What a great letter! My daughter had me help her write one back in September. I thought about giving her the catalog to pick out some things, but I was afraid she'd circle everything she saw. hahaha :)

We have not done our letter yet... yikes, better add that to my 'to-do' list. Thanks for the tip about Macys too.

Aleaxnder's first draft didn't contain a please or a thank you - you'd think I'd never taught him any manners!

We e-mailed Santa and got an instant reply - because apparently, like us, Santa can't help checking his e-mail every couple of minutes! and he has a blog you know!

I had no idea Macy's did that - I'm definitely going to bring our letters there.

He is just too cute and I love the cut-and-paste letter.

Oh, my goodness. I love the cut out pictures. SO adorable. Mine wrote a "list" yesterday of wavy lines. It said he wanted "alls the things." Kids are so freaking cute.
