I think I'm turning into a GIRL.

I've said before that I am not a "purse girl". I don't swap them out each morning for the one that looks better with my shoes, and I don't believe that you have to in order to be stylish. I used to have an every day bag, and another for special dress-up occasions.

Recently, my every day little black bag took a direct hit. I loved that bag - it had an outside pocket perfect for my cell phone and keys, so that I never had to dig for them. It was a little on the small side, but that kept me from being one of those gals who carries luggage. When my youngest was smaller (yeah, about three months ago - ha ha) I would take my wallet, keys and phone out of my purse and just throw them in the diaper bag.

These days, however, we've been able to get by without a diaper bag. There are no bottles to pack, no baby food, and we can make an outing to the store and to grab dinner on one extra diaper. I'd take a diaper, fold it in half and tuck it in my purse along with a few wipes in a plastic bag.

But one day, while my kids were busy rummaging through my purse looking for treats, Nick sat up and said, "Uh oh Mama."

"What do you MEAN, uh oh?" (We were in the grocery store, so if whatever they were digging for was keeping them *both* quiet, dig away, my lovies.)

"It ripped."

Looking closer, it seems the fabric that makes up the side of the zipper had ripped, leaving a gaping hole even though it had been zipped shut.

Several weeks passed, cuz that's the kind of procrastinator I am when it comes to buying things for myself, and every time I looked at purses in the store someone would start to whine or cry, and by the time I pacified the hubby with a pack of fruit snacks, well, you know how it goes. (Just makin' sure you're still reading, hon.)

Then, one day at Target, while standing in front of the purse section, Nick picked up this:

"You should get this one, Mommy."

First I thought, aw, how cute? He picked out a bright red one, trying to be all nice and helpful to his Mama. Then I thought, Hey...that ain't half bad.

I leaned over and picked up the black one in this style.

"NO, Mama. You should get red."

Oh, the style choices of three year olds. "Why?"

"Cuz its pretty."

And then I thought, I never go out on a style limb. I stay with safe black, or brown, or khaki. That red purse was pretty darn cute and you know what? I bought it.

Around the same time, someone I know was doing a bloggy giveaway. (If it was you, send me the permalink and I'll update this post. Sorry, I couldn't find your post!) There's a lovely little shop on the Web called Pink Lemonade Boutique Bags. The contest required that you go to that shop, pick out the bag you'd like to win and leave it in the comments. And I commented.

I didn't win, but dang. That was a cute bag. I mean, ca-yute. And one night, while I was online and hubby was at work, I went and bought it.

See how cute it is?

Now I have two purses, both which are cute, to choose from every day.

And I think I like it.

Wow nice. I never got into bag either. Mine is a hand me down from my mom. I just like them small and light.

I'm the same way- a purse for every day and one for dress up. But those are awfully cute! I might have to reconsider!

You and Nick BOTH have impressive taste! (Tell me, did you notice if Nick's selection came in green? ;) )

I love that red purse. I might have to go to target myself!

I never buy "cute" bags. I circulate between a leather and a denim messenger bag and a leather backpack I bought in Mexico 11 years ago. My husband said that when I die he is going to bury the backpack with me. I'm that attached to it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love both pocketbooks. I was just like you and used the diaper-bag as mine for three years, lol.

Welcome to the dark side. I'm not a girly-girl in any way, but I have a collection of purses that I'm always looking to add to. Purses and shoes, I don't know why.

I have a pink back pack for Summer and a Black Back pack for winter. I don't know how ladies do it, changiing with every outfit. TO much work for me!

We were in Target last weekend and I did see that bag and did go OOOOH, but I didn't break down and buy it, as much as I would have liked too..

Now I'm a bit jealous... good for you!!

A girl after my own heart! I too saw that post and commented. I didn't win the bag but I WILL be back to get one of those...I have a thing for purses...and shoes...and clothes...

*sigh*

I am SUCH a girl!

I LOVE them both, good for you! We all need a handbag fix now and again. It's helps remind us that we're girls, which can be hard to remember when we're knee-deep in Pull-Ups and pacifiers.

Great bags! I have one, and only one now. It's a medium size Vera Bradley that doubles as the diaper bag... but I am like you and only carry a couple diapers and wipes now. I used to be a big purse girl, and loved to go look at/buy the bags in a store, but now it is too much trouble to switch them out. I might forget to switch over something I need, like my wallet!

Those are two very cute purses, and I think I'd come see if I could borrow whichever one you weren't using if you lived closer. Haha. :) Very cute. I love, too, that you went out and did RED. Awesome!

I too am very safe with my bag colours -- usually tan or black, but this summer I decided I was going to buy a cute yellow one. I chickened out and bought a white one instead, but it's still sitting in my closet waiting to be used as I'm not so sure! LOL I think you've just inspired me to get it out though!!

I'm no fashionista myself. I love purses and shoes, but i'm just so cheap and practical. But in your case, that was money well spent! by the way, I'm having a giveaway and would be down right tickled if you'd come by and check it out! http://nowenteringmomville.blogspot.com

Ok you ARE a girl and a bad influence on me it seems. I don't even carry a purse and now I feel the urge to go shop for something cute. Thanks. A lot.

Those really ARE cute! Yay! I'm hearing you... I've still not turned into a GIRL where things like buying cute purses are concerned. :)

I have a purse addiction. I have about 20 bags in my closet. I don't change them out daily or anything, I just like to buy a new purse every few months.

Anyways, both of your purses are awesome. I especially like the last one.

You rocked it out, girl! I love when we take a chance - and listening to your little one, that's the best. See, they know what they're talking about sometimes! :)

Oh we could be twins. That's hysterical. I just got myself a bag fettish as well - and have a pink lemonade bag too. =) PLUS just bought a red leather purse on clearance for this fall/winter.

Cute bags. I have a red one that I love.

I never go out on a style limb either, but I'm getting better about it. I always feel like I need to have the basic brown and black, and then maybe some day I'll get the red. Well this year I bought a paid of sassy red wedge shoes, and I LOVE them. I wear them quite a bit, so it was definitely not a bad purchase. It just takes a while for us to do this kind of stuff. I'm glad you got the red one. :)

I'm exactly like you. I have a few bags - mostly black or brown or neutral but only ever use one at a time. I do like expensive bags though. I got one from the Fossil outlet while in Florida that was very reasonable but will be much more impressive back here as they are sooooo expensive in our shops.

Your post reminds me of a time I went shopping for some sandals a few years ago with Alexander in his buggy aged 2 or so. I went into a shop with a sale rail and liked a pair that was available in three different colours. I got the brown ones and put them on thinking they were perfect. Suddenly I hear "Oh noooo Mammy, Noooo Mammy". Alexander was pointing at the shoes and shaking his head at me. I got the pink ones down and he clapped his hands while shouting "yes Mammy, yes Mammy!" Everyone in the shop thought it was wonderful. I took the pink ones!
