My love affair

Dear Important People at TLC:

You got me.

I'm hooked, and so are my kids.

Your shows about really big families? Love 'em. I watch them like I'm cramming for a final. If those people can stay (somewhat) sane while dealing with eight, ten or SEVENTEEN kids, well hot damn I can deal with two!

I can't tell you how many times I've stopped an oncoming temper tantrum with, "Can the kids on Jon & Kate + Eight do that?" ("No, mama.") Somehow that resets the scales and shows him I'm not just being mean.

And in September, when the boys were in that commercial? Nick reached a point when he didn't want the cameras in his face anymore. All I had to say was, "Hey - you're just like those kids on Jon & Kate!!! They have cameras around all the time..." The big smiles re-emerged and he was ready to ham it up some more.

We love Little People Big World (though if you ask Nick, its Little Big World). I wish we had a big-ass pumpkin farm on which to raise our family. That Matt Roloff is one crazy dude with all his projects. But at least they get completed. *cough cough*

I want Mike Holmes to come and finish aforementioned projects and make sure there's no black mold growing in my bathroom. Then I want to find the cool-ass neighbors I never knew I had and have them come decorate my house. Cuz it needs it, y'all.

I want to take home the chef so my kids won't have to eat plain pork chops and scalloped potatoes from a box mix. (And that's what I make on a good day.)

I could go on and on about my Stacy and Clinton fantasies but I'll stop there.

I just thought I'd write this, Important People at TLC, to let you know...

...you had me at The New Detectives.

Seriously, Important People at TLC, if you read this, I might just let you adveritse on my blog if you ask nicely. Or pay me to write up reviews on your shows. Cuz my love for you runs that deeply. Just ask my hubby.

Awww, we love TLC too. Although the stuff Jon and Kate do is SOOOOO unrealistic, lol. Come on, they have so much help from others (family members, the camera guys). We just started going places with four! The ski trip was the kicker for me, how much do you think that cost? Or how much was donated. The 17 and growing family is in the A.T.I.A. program. I can spot them a mile away because we were in it for a few years when I was in high school. But they are good people.
The rest of the shows ROCK. I DVR allot of the ones you mentioned, lol.

Ha ha ha ha! We love TLC, and LOTS of TV shows where we use them as "teaching" moments---
"Oh Honey, that sounded as whiny and awful as Caillou..." (They get it!)

We dropped our digital cable this summer and no longer get TLC, but it sounds like you're picking some good programs for the boys to watch. We had our girl watching "Nanny 911" for a bit until we heard her repeating some of the more undesirable phrases heard on that show. So, no more "naughty kids" for us. It's a shame, too. That show really made us feel very educated and superior.

Don't watch TLC myself but I'd love for the Extreme Makeover team to come and knock my house down and build me one three times the size in it's place.

There is nothing wrong with this one but I'd gladly swap it for one of theirs!

Not sure there is anything on the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy that would deter Alexander though..!

TLC is the demise of my productive afternoon...baby story....followed by more baby story....followed by bringing home baby....followed by "what the heck - the kids are home from school already?...."

But yes, I love John and Kate - and the crazy Roloff's - yes, I want their farm too - and the Duggars - could those kids be more polite and that mom any calmer???....she is my hero!

And I love how those shows mesmerize my kids - I don't get it - but those folks at TLC better keep 'em coming, that's all I'm saying!

Oh my daughter is 6 and just discovered this channel. She's not into cartoons anymore and this is such a great transition. I am hoping she starts giving me tips on decorating and what to wear soon.

I was laughing out loud at this! We LOVE TLC in our house. Jon and Kate are my heros and I would faint if Stacy and Clinton knocked on my door! Whoooo!!

What of The Baby Story and the Wedding Story, and Bringing home baby ( I sure hope those are on the same network) My husband has made his peace with most of those shows but he draws the line at What Not To Wear. ( he says it encourages me to shop, like I need any encouragement for that)

Matt Roloff is a Maverick!
