Eat at Bob's

Kids do funny things. We know that. There is no logic in the mind of a two-year-old, and they will fixate on the strangest things.

Will's newest?

My friend's husband Bob.

For the record, Bob *is* a cool guy.

It started when we went to visit them a few weeks ago and has yet to let up.

One day, I saw Will in his room putting on his Elmo backpack. He grabbed a baseball hat, pulled it onto his head and marched proudly out to the living room.

Waving as he walked past, toward the door, he said, "BI-YEEEE!!!"

I chuckled, waving back. "Bye, buddy! Where are you going?"

He stopped and looked at me with his hands up, palms toward the ceiling as if to say, 'Where do you think?' and said "Bob's."

Huh. Really? Well, he just grinned and went on his way, murmuring more 'pretend' in the kitchen.

This scenario has played out more than a half dozen times recently.

As I mentioned, Monday night we went out to dinner when we probably just should have stayed home because the entire family was tired and crabby.

Poking my head into the bathroom as Hubby was getting ready to leave, I said, "Hey - I thought we'd go to Charcoal Grill for burgers."

Oh, lawdie. Will overheard.

"NOOOOOOO! Go buh-bye. To BOB'S!!!"

I was so off my game I actually argued with the kid.

"No, hon, sorry. We're not going to Bob's--"

"YESSSS!!! BOB'S HOUSE!!! EAT AT BOB'S HOUSE!!!"

"No, buddy --"

{big fat sobs from a teensie little boy who had his heart set on eating at Bob's}*

He promptly threw himself down on the floor, head in his hands, crying -- because he wanted to eat at Bob's.

"OK, fine. You want to eat burgers? At Bob's?"

"Uh-huh." Sniff, sniff.

"FINE. We'll go eat burgers at Bob's, then."

Good thing he believed us when we told him the restaurant was Bob's. Cuz dude - they live like two hours away.

*For the record, we did eat steak and lobster the last time we had dinner with Bob (oh, and his lovely wife and two pretty girls - maybe THAT'S it!)

That's so sweet - I'm sure Bob is flattered by all the admiration!

Uh yeah, Colleen: you've got about six months before he won't fall for that anymore. You need to develop a new strategy! :)

(But that was hilarious!)

I'm sorry Colleen for laughing, but that was so hilarious. And I've so been there. In fact I think I might have to do a post about Molly's recent OBSESSION -- also related to eating out.

But yea, I'm pretty much thinking I want to go to Bob's for steak and lobster. And of course he wants to go back if there were three hot chicks there. He's no dummy!

And Will's face sitting in the Rubbermaid container CRACKS ME UP EVERY TIME I COME TO YOUR BLOG!!! :)

For whatever reason, my men have the same effect on other people's children. They beg to come to our house. Not because of me. Because of Mr. D and my boys. If we ever meet, it must be alone;)

My first thought when I saw the post? I HAVE BEEN TO MOOSEJAWS and I have a horrible photo of myself in those antlers (next weeks Fro post maybe?) HA! Did I mention I live in Southern California? But yeah- was there last summer.

This is a great Fro story.....

FOR THE LOVE OF BOB!

We have a similar situation here with Carson! He demands to go to Nate's house because he LOVES Nate...we hadn't thought about calling a restaurant Nate's!
