The Workin' Mom Blues

beer

Today was the first day at the new job.

Momma's TIRED.

I don't know if its coming off of a week of vacation, the fact that I'm working until 5:00 for the first time in years, that I'm in a completely different place with new faces to memorize, 131,000 pages of new hire paperwork that need my name and social and a office floor plan that can get me lost in 20 paces...or maybe...just maybe a combination of all of those things but today sucked the life from my very bone marrow.

Oh, and did I mention - its 10:18 pm as I write this and my boys juuust finally are quiet?

beans

And that Hubs left for work, leaving a pan of baked beans for me to find cemented on the stove after promising he'd clean up?

If it weren't for this sweetness waiting for me when I get home at night...

lil' helper

...it just wouldn't be worth it at all.

Hugs to you....the life of a working mom is definitely non stop, sleep deprived, and horribly horribly rewarding :)

I hope you are able to adjust to your new schedule quickly!!

You have made it through tougher times, sorry the first day was rough but remember you will be the pro in no time! Take care and hugs, hugs, hugs and hugs (1 from each of us!)

Awwww, Colleen, sounds like a really rough first day. And concrete beans are a bitch :(.

Your boy, though, yes, that is so sweet. I love that he's playing with that sweet baby doll.

Hope the rest of the week gets better... I think it will as you get used to the new routine. Hugs to you...

I feel your pain, and your exhaustion .... well, no I don't because I'm a SAHM and as much as that sucks the life out of me most days, I KNOW that adding a full-time job to the mix would just put me over the edge!
You'll get the hang of your new life and schedule soon, just hang in there. You're a superwoman, and that's why we read your blog! (well, that and because I'm a SAHM and, dude, blogs are sometimes the only adult interaction I get all day!)

I admire you - working full time with small kids. It really must be hard. Chin up - hopefully you will get into a routine that will suit everybody.

Aw, that is cute. I bet you wanted to hit the bottle, too, after a day back in the rat race. Good luck--I hope the rest of the week goes smoothly.

You're going to be great - but you know that already. Yay - to being properly compensated.

I think that actively learning is definitely exhausting! I went to a one-day conference last week, and you'd have thought I ran a marathon I was so tired!

It are "those" moments of sweetness that truly make it all worth it..
