Thirteen random thoughts about this week

Thursday Thirteen

Its been one hell of a week.

1) A HUGE thank you to all who've offered kind words of support over the passing of my Grandmother last week. We're all healing now and can be happy she is no longer suffering, remembering how lively and fiesty she used to be when she was well.

2) Thanks for the positive feedback on the new blog layout. I've never been a "pink" person, so the color may change, but we'll see.

3) I have been taking so many pictures these days! I think I'm just so grateful for the warmer weather that we've been taking lots of walks, playing in the sandbox and just getting all the fresh air we were deprived of over this l-o-o-o-o-ng winter. When I dump photos off my camera onto our PC I now make a "Colleen" photo folder and one for our family pics so I can archive them separately.

4) I'm so glad Mr. Dreadlock Man is gone from American Idol! (And Bo Bice needs to cut his hair, too.)

5) Fourteen days until the Hubster's graduation! I'm so excited for him - he's worked at this for a very long time and was a great Hubby and Daddy while attending school (some semesters full time) and working full time. Yes, I've married Superman.

6) Sixteen days until my cousin's wedding. Nick is the ring bearer! We went to have him fitted for his tux on Saturday. Oh. My. God. The cutest thing EVAH!

7) Seventeen days until our fishing trip to Minnesota. (Yeah, May's busy for us.) I am SO looking forward to it! Really. I don't know why more women don't like to fish...drop a pole in the water, put yer feet up...grab a book...catch some sun and some dinner... Sometimes its like that, anyway. This trip I'm promised will NOT be the same...much more active fishing, but its all good. I grew up as my Dad's fishing buddy. I remember him teaching me to blow bubbles with my gum while sitting on the pier fishing one evening after dinner. Good times, good times...

8) I am nearing my 100th post. Haven't done the math yet, but this one's #87. (Guess that if I do only one a day that puts me at May 21st!) Come back around that time - I'll be offering a giveaway to celebrate!

9) Jay is a GREAT gift giver (buys me practical gifts that are actually things I like and want) but he's like a little boy on Christmas morning once he buys it. He took the boys shopping for my anniversary gift yesterday (its May 17th - 5 years!) and when he found I was still awake when he got home from work he all but gave it to me. Its almost as if he's so excited at how clever he's been that he can't wait for me to tell him so. I made him hold back. He said he's giving it to me on Friday. I don't think I'm going to fight him on it any more!

10) No guest posters for me while I'm on vacation. I'm already working on a number of posts that - with the help of the new post-scheduling feature from blogger! - will post automatically while I'm gone on said fishing trip. Whooo-weee, doggie. You're in for some real treats. Um...well, maybe...

11) I have been stuck reading the same book for the past month. I go in streaks - I'll read a book a week for three months straight, then some how languish on one for a while. The one I'm reading is pretty good, but I've just found I don't have the time!

12) I do the same with household chores. I'll run myself ragged for a week and a half straight to keep up with laundry, dishes, cooking, etc., then have another week and a half where I do nothing.

13) Will is still not walking. He can physically do it. I've seen him many times. But only when you call out to him, and squat down, holding your hands out to him. He just won't take the initiative to do it on his own. He'll be 15 months on May 21. I'm not exactly worried, just wondering what the heck is going on. I shot this video about a month ago.

One last note, a 13 1/2, if you will. I'm proposing a theme for next week's Flashback Friday. Sports. Post a pic, tell a story or even, heck, do both! Of yourself. Playing sports, holding a sporting good object or wearing sweats. No, I kid. But play along with the theme if you want. Tomorrow's will still be a "do whateva you want" post. Next week - sports.

We spend the the first two years of a kids life trying to get them to walk and talk, then the rest of their life trying to get them to sit down and shut up!

Wow, you have one busy busy family!

My little brother didn't walk until he was 17 months old.

Congrats to your hubby! I'm always impressed when people can work and go to school. And he sounds like such a nice guy, practical gifts are the best.

Have fun on your fishing trip! That sounds so exciting. I really can't wait for our kids to be old enough to go. I used to go fishing all the time and would go every day during the summer. Good luck!

I agree about Bo Bice's hair. He has some MAJOR split ends.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment on my PMS post.

sounds like you need to do some deep breathing just to get through it all. And your son is so totally walking he can just get there faster crawling. He'll do it when he's ready.
