Making Christmas meaningful

Well, NaBloPoMo has just about kicked my behind. Not only was it hard to come up with read-worthy posts every day, it was hard has HELL to keep up with each of yours. So if I'm behind on yours, well, don't hold yer breath. Sorry.

As much as posting every day in November completely wore me out, it was good for me, too. I wrote some good posts, some not so good posts and others that were just off the top of my head. It forced to me write more than I normally do, and challenged me to write about things I normally wouldn't dream of sharing and make them interesting.

So I'm doing it again in December. Every day until the 25th, at least. But this time...there's no NaBloJoeSchmoe, just me and my lappy...and 25 ways to make the holiday season more the way it should be.

If you've read my blog before, you'll know I don't pretend to be a domestic diva, but we have a few traditions (some old, some new, some I'd like to have) I'd like to share with you. Because I try to keep the Christmas season from becoming all about toys and, uh, toys and, uh, more toys, or spending enough money to put my family in debt for the rest of the year. Its not that we have mucho bucks (cuz we don't) but the Christmas season is just not about THAT.

So, even if you don't celebrate Christmas, come back every day in December for another idea for something you can do to make the season merry that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Or that just makes it...nicer.

Subscribe to my blog so you don't miss a post!

Have you heard of the book "The Elf on the Shelf"? It's actually a book and toy elf set. It's a story about how Santa knows if you're on the naughty or nice list, and it involves hiding the elf in various places in your house for your kids to find every morning. Check it out if you're up for a new tradition! We just got ours -- and I'm secretly hoping it will help influence some good behavior, for Santa's sake!
